This home sits on top of a knoll on Conifer Mountain at appx. 9700′ and has great views to the east, south and west including some of the prominent cliff faces in Staunton State Park to the west.
The home is a bit quirky with some very funky design elements like spiral staircases, an indoor water feature, an abandoned water holding tank taking up a lot of room in the unfinished part of the basement (left over from the now-removed-solar-water-system. Perhaps the most interesting is the large southeast facing sunroom off of the master. Even in the dead of winter this room is exceedingly hot.
Likewise, the decor is dated with lavender carpet transitioning to gray speckles, original cabinetry and even a built in toaster in the breakfast niche!
The master bath is well kept but vintage 1980 with a heart shaped soaking tub overlooking the Denver city lights.
It is a multi-level with a sunken family room complete with a funky shiny metal and glass see-through gas fireplace.
My opinion is that this house will have a tough time justifying it’s price when compared to other recent sales. Simply put the other homes that have sold close to this price in Conifer Mountain lately have been at least partially remodeled and have resolved most of their era-specific styling and mechanical issues from when they were originally built while this one still holds on to a few key concerns.
On the positive side there isn’t another home in Conifer Mountain competing with this one within $80k higher or lower! The closest options are the significantly smaller home on 11304 Pauls Dr. (MLS# 6614919) at $420k and the highest home on Conifer Mountain–10915 Beas Drive (MLS #2446802) at $625k.
All in all it has a lot of square footage, a fair amount of potential and for someone who wants to live in Conifer and especially Conifer Mountain there simply isn’t much else available today close to $500k.
